Boarding
Boarding For Small Dogs (up to 20 lbs)
& Bassets & Beagles & Pugs of any size!
Boarding with us works well for dogs who have some degree of independence (no separation anxiety) and who are not seriously aggressive. I provide a fair amount of structure and dogs are managed according to what they can handle — play sessions for the extroverts, walks and one-on-one time in the kitchen with me for the introverts.
As a general rule, we all sleep in the bedroom together.
Dogs must be able to handle being confined to an x-pen, crate, or one segment of the house–I do work for a few hours every day outside the home.
Every dog is an individual and where pure kennel-free boarding (such as Almost Home) may not provide quite enough structure for your dog and a traditional kennel is too stressful, your pooch may do very well here.
For dogs with anxiety issues, I do stress the importance of good nutrition:

I do board a small number of dogs throughout the year. They stay in my home — conveniently located between Green Hills and 100 Oaks. No training is involved, but walks (4x/day), treats, hanging out, play and naps do make for a full schedule. Oh, and don’t forget meal times!
